Description and purpose of grant: These materials will align with both 6th-grade Science and Social Studies curricula, adhering to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Texas Social Studies frameworks. This approach encourages inquiry, problem-solving, and cross-curricular connections.

Additionally, games will be employed to review and reinforce knowledge. Our campus goal is to have common formative assessments with hands on learning experiences, and to also follow the pillars of CISD: building relationships, great teaching, success, and engagement.

Implementation process: This initiative will impact ALL science and social studies learners at our school. Members of leadership on campus will keep supplies in locked cabinets and allow members of the team to check out manipulatives as needed. This initiative aims to support small group activities that are both hands-on and engaging for all learners. By incorporating innovative learning methods, students will engage in higher-level thinking, allowing them to showcase their understanding in a meaningful way. We will utilize manipulatives that turn abstract concepts into tangible learning experiences.

Items you plan to purchase with grant money: Students will work with LEGOs, magnetic blocks, modeling clay, and other manipulatives to foster higher-level learning. They will:

In the event my grant is not fully funded, this is minimum amount I would need to get started on this project: Any donations would be graciously accepted. For each manipultive, we would want a container for each thing. If we could only get 2 for each subject, instead of 8, we would accept, but this would impact less students.
