Description and purpose of grant: This proposal requests funding for Breakout EDU kits, an interactive “escape-room” learning system that promotes collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking. Our goal is to purchase classroom sets of Breakout EDU kits for all departments at New Tech High @ Coppell, supporting hands-on, inquiry-based learning across disciplines in our project-based, learner-centered environment.
These kits will provide students with immersive opportunities to solve problems, reinforce academic content, and strengthen social-emotional and teamwork skills—all while aligning with the Coppell ISD Core Values of Collective Engagement, Great Teaching, Authentic Relationships, and Redefining Success.
Breakout EDU transforms classrooms into engaging, puzzle-based environments where students apply course concepts to unlock challenges. Each breakout promotes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The platform includes over 1,000 ready-made lessons aligned to state standards and allows teachers to create customized games for any subject.

Activities include hosting Escape Room Projects created by Honors and AP Government classes to demonstrate learning on civil rights and civil liberties which engage our whole school community, Forensics Case Study activities to increase hands-on inquiry-based learner immersion, application of English concepts such as interpretation of poetic texts and construction of meaning from texts, immersive application of LOTE language comprehension skills, and cross-curricular 21st century skills of problem-solving and collaboration.
As resources will be available for the entire campus, the impact will be across the hundreds of learners currently on the New Tech campus, and future learners to come. The locks can be re-set and customized to thousands of BreakOut EDU boxes already designed and readily available with the year-long subscription which comes with purchase of the boxes or tailored to the needs of individual facilitators and used again and again for activies and years to come.
